Kazakh Celebrity Concert

Kazakhstan is an independent republic in central Asia. This vast country was once part of the
Soviet Union and it's musicians formed part of the elite produced by the traditional Russian
musical education system. Now this vibrant young nation has developed its own musical voice
building on these older traditions and this concert show cases Kazakh-born musicians and
Kazakh compositions.

Aiman Musakhodzhayeva violin is a Laureate of the Belgrade International
Competition (Yugoslavia), Paganini International Competitions (Genoa, Italy),
the Tokyo International Competition (Japan), Sibelius International
Competition (Helsinki, Finland), and the Eighth Tchaikovsky International
Competition (Moscow, Russia) and now is a member of the Association of the
Tchaikovsky International Competition.
Aiman is an increasingly frequent presence on the major stages of Europe as well as being
the founder of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Music and the Kazakhstan State
Chamber Orchestra and UNESCO 'Artist for Peace'. As a champion of new Kazakh music,
she has given world premiere performances of pieces by M.Tulebayev, E.Brusilovsky,
G.Zhubanova, S.Mukhamedzhanov, and E.Rakhmadiyev.

Eleonora Bekova is the pianist of the legendary Bekova Piano Trio who have
recorded and broadcast extensively and performed worldwide. As an
independent chamber musician she has appeared in the major concert halls
of most major cities and has appeared in concerti with orchestras such as the
St Petersburg Philharmonic, Moscow Philharmonic, London Philharmonic and
Royal Philharmonic.
As a promoter of new music, Eleonora has been the dedicatee and first performer of works
by Steven Gerber, Sergey Zhukhov, Michael Finnessey and the Kazakh composer Timur
Tleukhan. In recent years she has done much to promote Britsh-Kazakh cultural relations.

Anar Bukenova will perform Akku by Nurgisa Tlendiyev and the world
premiere of Vocalise by Serik Yerkimbekov together with Aiman
Musakhodzhayeva. This young Kazakh concert pianist graduated with
distinction from the prestigious Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow and is
now training at the Royal Academy of Music. She has distinguished herself in
many international competitions and performed as soloist with a number of renowned
symphony and chamber orchestras in Russia and Kazakhstan.

 
 
2008
The 17th Anniversary of the Independence of Kazakhstan
The performance of the Triple Concerto was very successful. Baeva and Cohen brought a sense of chamber music intimacy to their trio. The piano part was performed by the renowned Kazakh musician Eleonora Bekova, who studied at the Moscow Conservatory and who has made many records for Chandos as part of the Bekova Trio. The violinist was 23 year old Alena Baeva, who was born in Kazakhstan and who is now building a distinguished solo career. The difficult cello solo was performed by David Cohen, who has been Principal Cello of the Philharmonia Orchestra since 2002.
 
 
2007
The 4th annual Kazakh Gala Concert
An annual event, the Gala provides an opportunity for Kazakh artists and Kazakh music to be presented. This year the Kazakh-born Marius Stravinsky, recently appointed the youngest artistic director with a Russian orchestra is the conductor and he is joined by cellist Alfia Nakipbekova whose formative years were spent in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. The concert also provides an opportunity for the British Kazakh community to gather in a cultural setting and forms part of the celebrations for Independence and our National Day on December 16th.
 
 
2006
15 Years of independence of Kazakhstan
In 2006 the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates its sixtieth anniversary. Founded in 1946 by Sir Thomas Beecham, with his vision of bringing world-class performances of the greatest music written to the length of the country, the Orchestra continues to offer audiences the highest possible standards of musicmaking, accompanied by some of the most acclaimed artists of the day. The RPO extends its artistic work through a vibrant and innovative Community and Education programme. Using music as a powerful and motivating force, the RPO works in a variety of settings including projects with young homeless people.
 
2005
Cellorhythmics
The Gala is an annual event in which we showcase Kazakh talent. Imaging a blast of vibrant live music that combines blues, world, progressive rock, jazz and 70`s pop that gets you jumping into your seat. The energic group of four cellists and a percussionists create a musical journey: from exotic Asian soundscapes to the rhythms and textures of contemporary urban life, that entrance and electrify their audience with stunning musicality and visual impact.
 
2004
The Bekova Trio
4 December 2004 sees the first Gala Concert organised to celebrate British-Kazakh relationships. Organised by the Embassy of Kazakhstan, the British-Kazakh Society and the London-based Bekova Trio this will be an annual event held to mark Kazakhstan`s National Day that falls on 15 December
