The 7th Annual Kazakh Gala Concert sponsored by ENRC 2010
Royal Patron
HRH Princess Michael of Kent
Kazakh Gala Concert
Guildhall
8th December 2010
Each year the Gala marks the anniversary of Kazakh Independence and this December's 19th anniversary also sees the closure of the year of Kazakhstan's Chairmanship of the OSCE. The Gala is a unique event bringing British and Kazakh communities together in celebration of culture and recognition of Kazakh artists and in so doing attracts many key and often elusive figures in the relaxed splendour of one of London's finest buildings. The Kazakh Gala is now a registered charity and funds raised from the Gala will be put towards educational scholarships for musically-talented children.
It is a great honour to welcome you to the seventh annual Kazakh Gala. This event
has always been held to create a cultural meeting place between our two nations
at the time of Kazakhstan’s National Day when we celebrate the independence of
our young and vibrant nation and to establish a platform bringing Kazakh art and
performance to greater prominence in Britain.
This dream has now grown and the Kazakh Gala is a registered charity charged
with developing opportunities for young people from Central Asia to learn music
and develop their music talents.
I am deeply grateful for the kind support of our Patrons- His Excellency the
Ambassador Kairat Abusseitov, Kairat Abusseitov, Lord Poltimore, Sir John
Stuttard and the Right Honourable David Mellor, and the fantastic support of
the Embassy of Kazakhstan and all our kind sponsors and donors.
In any undertaking of this magnitude, the help of a lead partner and supporter is
invaluable and may I take this opportunity to pay tribute to Mounissa Chodieva
and her fellow Directors of ENRC. Mounissa and ENRC share the vision of
developing cultural links between nations and through their generosity and
energetic support in the fields of education, artistic development and performance
of all sizes and genres they are creating reality from that vision and I enormously
appreciate their support.
No acknowledgement can be complete without saying thank you to everybody
who has helped make all this possible: the Guildhall, the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra, Bespoke-Events, the many other suppliers and all our wonderful
helpers. I am particularly grateful to the Trustees and Legal Advisor to the Kazakh
Gala Charity and to the Committee Members who have been so active and
supportive of the Gala.
I hope you find all the events stimulating and enjoyable.

Exhibition of Kazakh Art
Sotheby's Gallery
11th- 18th December 2009
It is a great honour to welcome you to the first Kazakh Arts Festival. When
the Kazakh Gala started six years ago, I hoped we would broaden the scope
to encompass many forms of culture so it is particularly gratifying that this
year we have expanded to include two orchestral concerts and an art
exhibition. My dream was to create a cultural meeting place between our two
nations at the time of Kazakhstan’s National Day when we celebrate the
independence of our young and vibrant nation and to establish a platform
bringing Kazakh art and performance to greater prominence in Britain.
I am deeply grateful for the kind support of our Royal Patron HRH Princess
Michael of Kent, our Patrons His Excellency the Ambassador Kairat
Abusseitov, Lord Poltimore and Jonathan Aitken, the fantastic support of the
Embassy of Kazakhstan and all our sponsors.
In any undertaking of this magnitude, the help of a lead partner and
supporter is invaluable and I would like to take this opportunity to pay
tribute to Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation, a leading Kazakh metals
and mining company. ENRC’s vision of developing cultural links between
nations is being demonstrated through the Group’s continued support in the
fields of education, artistic development and performance across all genres
and I enormously appreciate their support.
No acknowledgement can be complete without saying thank you to
everybody who has helped make all this possible: the venues, the orchestras,
the many other suppliers and numerous helpers. The committee has worked
together fantastically well and my thanks and admiration to Svetlana von
Peglow, Zhanar Seisebayeva and our legal counsel, Tatiana Svetlova.
I hope you find all the events
